Round 6 was another wet one, with several periods of rain during the middle of the day. But no amount of rain would have been enough to dampen the enthusiasm of the 32 teams that took part in what was the final and deciding round of the Interclub competition. The stakes were high, as there were five clubs still in with a chance of winning the championship – something we’ve never seen before (and may never see again). 2023 INTERSTATE CHALLENGE – EOI CLOSE 1st JUNE 2023
At the SAPL committee meeting held on the 18th May 2023, it was decided to support this years Interstate Challenge and send two teams to Newcastle. This year’s Interstate Challenge will be an Open competition and Expressions of Interest are sought from players of all ages.
Attached is a proposed timeline for the team selection and training process and an “Expression of Interest” form.
SAPL players who are interested in taking part should complete the form and return it to Adrian Clements by the 1st June 2023. Both Adrian Clements ( clementsadrian@hotmail.com ) and Stan Wilson ( secretary@sapetanque.com ) welcome any questions from interested players.

2022/2023 SA State Mixed Doubles Championship
The 2022/2023 SAPL Mixed Doubles Championship was held at Eastern Suburbs Pétanque Club on Sunday 30th April, 2023.
Twenty-eight teams competed in this year’s SA Mixed Doubles Championship, a record turnout for this event. The conditions were mild but damp, with a few light showers keeping a spring in the step of the newly refurbished Eastern Suburbs terrain.
2022-2023 InterClub Competition Round 5 – Club de Petanque d’Adelaide – 26th March 2023
Round 5 was played at Club d’Adelaide in slightly damp conditions. However, the intermittent showers were so light that they had little impact on either the terrain or the players. There was no wind and the temperature was comfortable.
This was a round where experience rose to the fore as three highly credentialed teams from three different clubs took their place on the podium. The bronze medallists were Rada Pierre, Alain Rousse & Dominique Pierre, from Adelaide. In second place were Prospect’s Melissa Scott, Ha Nguyen & Van Nguyen. On the top step were Alexi Alexi, Iskender (Ken) Maski & Craig Stewart, for Eastern Suburbs. All of these players have been in this position before, but one deserves a special mention.Continue reading
2022-2023 SA State Singles Championship – Novar Gardens Petanque Club – 19 February 2023 – Photo Essay
The South Australian Petanque League held the 2022-2023 South Australian State Singles Championship on Sunday 19th February 2023. The tournament was hosted by the Novar Gardens Petanque Club.
The Open Singles winner was Alexi Alexi and the Ladies Singles winner was Haejung Jang.
