This year’s State Singles Championships were held on a sunny and uncomfortably hot day. If the weather forecast had been accurate, the event would have been called off. But it wasn’t. Consequently, the conditions were trying for all concerned and several players had to withdraw during the course of the day. Those who lasted the distance all deserve a medal. There will no doubt be a review of the SAPL Hot Weather Policy at the next committee meeting.

2024-2025 InterClub Competition Round 4 Adelaide Hills Petanque Club – 12 Jan 2025
The sky was clear and the sun was fierce for Round 4, held at Stirling. Twenty-eight teams took part.
We’ve had some close contests this season, but this was one where a single team stood head and shoulders above the rest. On their way to collecting the gold medals, Van & Ha Nguyen and Deb Rodda put in a near faultless performance. They played all good quality opponents, including the teams that finished second and third, yet only two of their five victims were able to even register a point against them.

Round 3 was held at Novar Gardens in fine conditions, although it was rather humid. The field of teams was a bit smaller than expected but there was no shortage of quality.

This year’s State Doubles Championships were held at Club d’Adelaide in glorious spring conditions. It was not the largest turn-out we’ve had for this event but it was certainly one of the strongest fields we’ve seen.
