The sky was clear and the sun was fierce for Round 4, held at Stirling. Twenty-eight teams took part.
We’ve had some close contests this season, but this was one where a single team stood head and shoulders above the rest. On their way to collecting the gold medals, Van & Ha Nguyen and Deb Rodda put in a near faultless performance. They played all good quality opponents, including the teams that finished second and third, yet only two of their five victims were able to even register a point against them.
The silver medals went to Prospect’s Melissa & Gavin Scott and Brett Williams, while Ralph Foster, Rob Mawson & Greg Anderson from Adelaide Hills took the bronze.
Another big haul of points has put Eastern Suburbs in a commanding position for the championship. Last place also appears to be all but settled. However, in the middle of the premiership table, things are still very much alive. A strong showing by Adelaide Hills on their home turf has lifted them up to 3rd place and within striking distance of 2nd-placed Adelaide. Prospect also reaped some big points and have rebounded to 4th ahead of Novar Gardens. FAB, too, had another good outing and are now in the mix to challenge the teams ahead of them. So, with two rounds to go, there is still plenty of action to come.
Thanks to the Adelaide Hills club for hosting the event and putting on the usual excellent feast and to all those who contributed to making it another splendid day.
