The final round of the 24/25 season was held on a sunny day which made for very pleasant conditions on the pistes despite the low temperature. 28 teams took part.
Just when the competition was starting to look a bit predictable, there was a change to the script on this occasion with the gold medals going to a Novar Gardens team for the first time in over two years. Selina Dally, Ned Dally & Jonathan Giddings swept all before them to remain undefeated on the day. Special congratulations go to Ned and Jonathan for their first Interclub gold medals.
The silver medals went to Alain Rousse, Rafael Esteve & Dominique Pierre from Club d’Adelaide. In just his second appearance in this competition, it hasn’t taken Rafael long to make his mark. Meanwhile, Arwed Turon, Ha Nguyen & Van Nguyen had to settle for bronze. Having won four of the six League rounds in each of the last two seasons, Van will now have to wait until next time for another crack at being the first player to win five.
This season hasn’t been as tight in the premiership race as some we’ve had over recent years. A majority of the clubs already had their positions more or less locked in after Round 5, including Eastern Suburbs at the top of the table. They can now be officially declared as the champion club for the seventh year in a row.
The exception was the battle for third, which was still very much alive as Adelaide Hills and Prospect came in to this round tied on points, with Novar Gardens not too far behind. A haul of 30 pts for 1st place might have given the latter a chance, but they needed a bit more if they were to bridge the gap. The other two clubs both recorded some solid results, with more than one team in the top twelve (but none in the top four). In the end it was Prospect who gained the ascendancy and finished three points ahead.
