The South Australian Petanque League held Round 4 of its 2022-2023 InterClub competition on Sunday 22nd January 2023. The tournament was hosted by the Adelaide Hills Petanque Club.
SAPL President Stan Wilson has created this photo essay. The Tournament Director’s report will follow.
SAPL usually schedules the January round of our Interclub league at Adelaide Hills Petanque Club in Stirling because with its elevated position the temperature is usually more comfortable than in Adelaide. Sunday the 22nd January ran true to form and the temperature was 6 degrees cooler than on the plains. Thirty two triples teams participated in the round representing seven clubs; the playing standard was fairly even between the teams and none had an easy match up. We played untimed games to11 points in the morning and two “snakes and ladders” games to 13 in the afternoon. The final game finished at around 5:30 PM after around seven hours of competitive Pétanque.
Many thanks to the volunteers who made and delivered a delicious and copious lunch to around 100 people, to the umpires that participated, and also to Anthony Pietsch the Tournament Director.
