Round 3 was held at Novar Gardens in mild conditions. It was dry on the day, which was quite fortunate considering the significant rain events that occurred in the days before and after the event. Twenty-eight teams took part. Taking home the gold medals, once again, were Vincent Bulone, Alexi Alexi & Van Nguyen from Eastern Suburbs.
This is one for the Interclub record books. For Van, it makes three out of three in his first season playing for ESP. For Alexi, it keeps up his record of winning at least one gold medal in all but one of the past fourteen seasons. But, most notable of all, it makes four wins in a row for Vincent (including the last round of the 2022/23 season). This is a feat that has only been achieved once before, by Ken Maski and Suki Vaswani back in 2008/9. History beckons in the next round.
Second and third place both went to teams from Club d’Adelaide. Lionel Pujol, Louis Oltarczy & Jean-Paul Bouyer won the silver and Jean May, Jean-Luc Gonnet & Dominique Pierre took the bronze. Their combined points haul was enough to maintain the status quo between second-placed Adelaide and the ladder leaders, ESP.
Also maintaining the status quo were Novar Gardens and Adelaide Hills. Both clubs earned 27 points in this round to remain locked together in equal third. The only movement on the ladder came from Prospect, who have jumped ahead of FAB into fifth position.
Thanks to the umpires and to the Novar Gardens club and volunteers for hosting the day.
